The World according to the ancient Hindu
The Earth was a convexed surface that was sustained in four enormous elephants located in each cardinal point. This was something common in the Antiquity: the world had to lean on a solid support.
The elephants in turn rested on a colossal turtle that swimed in a sea without end, represented by the snake that bitten her tail, symbol of the infinite. The earthquakes were explained by movements of the elephants.
In certain way this conception is surprisingly modern: an autocontent and unlimited universe.luidas desde el espacio)
